To provide a little background, a friend and I who are in our late 20's both recently got divorced. It has not been easy for either of us. In order to get away from it all, we've decided to take a two week vacation of Europe in mid-late August. While meeting women is not our main priority, we are looking to visit cities that have unparalleled nightlife we like venues that are more classy than trashy while also having unique cultural activities.
Unfortunately, neither of us is multilingual - so a general openness to work with the limited vocabulary we would be able to learn would be a huge benefit. As would cities that are easily accessible in traveling i.
We have done some extensive research and come up with cities such as Barcelona , Lisbon , Prague , Copenhagen and Rome. We'd like to select 3 locations and spend 4 nights in each. We plan to fly or take ground transport between each city if possible. A colleague of ours also recommended Stockholm. I have done some reading on Stockholm nightlife and am concerned that it might not be our "best" choice, even though the cultural activities are exactly on par with what we are looking for.
Can anyone offer any guidance on this? Or insight on other cities that should be on top of the list, if not. Well, I wouldn't come here for the nightlife, eventhough I know there are some nice places around Stockholm. It's honesty quite a small town.
I'd personally choose Barcelona , Prague and why not- Rome. Have you concidered Amsterdam? If you stay out of the Central Station area and the Red Light District which is quite easy , it's a deasent city with a great international atmosphere. I lived there a time ago and I used to love going out to Westergasfabriek , Paradiso and Melkweg. Amsterdam is very friendly and easy-going. Stockholm is a great city for a family vacation, though.
